Sussex Express June 20 1919
The only license which came under consideration at the principal meeting of the License Compensation Authority for East Sussex, held at the County Hall, Lewes, yesterday, was in respect of the Lamb Inn, Cuckfield. The owners are the Southdown and East Grinstead Brewery, and the licensee is Mr William Henry Ellis.

Mr Flowers explained that the house had been referred on the report of the renewal authority for the Haywards Heath Division on the grounds that it was unnecessary for the needs of the district. The Lamb Inn was an old beer house, and had been in fact closed since August, 1916
After hearing evidence the Magistrates refused the renewal of the license.
