The funds of the South Section, Cuckfield Home Guard, benefited to the extent of £3 11s 4d as a result of a dance held at the Queen's Hall on Wednesday evening. The proceeds will be devoted towards the equipment of the local home guard hut. The Brunswick Swing Trio, from Haywards Heath, was responsible for getting a programme of music. Guardsman D Green officiated as master of ceremonies. Winners of the competitions were Miss Doreen Bicknell of Haywards Heath and Gunner GF Moody. Light refreshments were served under the direction of Mrs Avery, Mrs L. Beard, J Simmonds, and V Rowland rendered useful assistance as stewards, as did also Corporals WJ Bransden and R Chinnery at the door.
