FRIVOLOUS ASSAULT CASE.
George Martin and Charles Gander were summoned for assault on a boy named Roberts, on Thursday last.
—lt appeared that defendants were at work at a well at the King’s Head stables, Cuckfield, when the boy, with others, came and annoyed them, when Martin told him to away. He then became saucy, and Martin told Gander to stop him as he was running away, which he did, and Martin put a rope over his, head, and threatened to put him down the well
—This was admitted, but he denied striking or handling the boy.
—The Chairman said it was ridiculous case to bring before them, but considered the case proved, mitigating the penalty to 1s., costs 10s. each.
