CUCKFIELD.
The Town in Darkness.
—During the past week we have been left in total darkness, although there has been no moon, and the nights very wet and unpleasant, people having been obliged to grope their way about as they best knew how after the shops were closed.
Everybody complains, but no one seems to know whose fault it is that the gas is shut off from the street lamps.
Perhaps the town surveyor or the Local Board can explain it.
