1925: Chum - the dog that can read


While dogs have a general reputation for intelligence, there are few whose education is as far advanced as Chum, a terrier owned by Mrs Young of The Studio, Cuckfield, Sussex, who spells his own name, placing the letters which compose it in their correct order without ever making a mistake.
