Dr GB Tait asked members of Cuckfield Rural Council on Tuesday whether there were any truth in the rumour that although electricity had been installed in a number of pre-war council houses, it was not going to be switched on because of the need for economy.
Members and officials stated it was the first they had heard of the rumour and there was no truth in it.
Increases in rents of these houses which have had electricity installed will be made when the installations are brought into service and not as from November 6, as at first decided by the Council.
