“HELPLESSLY DRUNK” - CUCKFIELD.
Alfred Hazelgrove, Cuckfield, was summoned for being drunk and incapable in Cuckfield on January 4th.—He pleaded guilty,—P.C. Webb said that at 2 a.m., in Broxmead Lane, Cuckfield he found defendant lying in the road, helplessly drunk. Witness picked him up and took him home.— Superintendent Anscombe said this was a case in which defendant might have been killed. A gentleman was motoring home between twelve and one o’clock, and he nearly ran over the defendant. He telephoned him (the Superintendent), and he sent a constable —Fined 5s.
